OCD Organization: Agenda Addition

I have Selective OCD, self-diagnosed of course, but it comes out in full force when it comes to my Agenda. My schedule is crazy, especially during school. The only way I can manage is with color coded washi tape filling in the white space to create a visual representation of my life.

I have been using my wash tape method for two-ish years and it is by far the best system I have come up with. I used to use pen and highlighter which is just a little to permanent. If there is a change in plans/rescheduling or cancelation white out was my only option. Then I moved to pencil which was very… vanilla.

Enter washi tape.

First and foremost, its cute. There are a million colors and patterns to choose from so you can get creative. You can use sharpies AND it wont bleed through…which can add more color to an otherwise boring pencil and paper system. My favorite feature about washi tape? It doesn’t rip paper… so you can peel it off if your plans change!!!

I don’t go anywhere without my planner. You never know when you’re going to get a text about babysitting on a Saturday a month from now or an opening in Tuesday night’s boxing class. Not only does putting it in my planner give me a reminder each night when I plan/pack for the next day, but the process of selecting the tape and writing it out helps me remember.

Each major activity I have has its own color tape. Nannying is purple, school is pink chevron, the gym is teal…you get the picture. By having this system all I need is the tape and the time. It simplifies the planner and I know based on the number of tape strips how crazy my day will be. Some days I will have three or four pieces of tape, others will be just one.

Michael’s is my go-to place for washi tape… they have an entire wall. Most of the tape comes in a set of two with  different colors//patters. Im craving a tape shopping spree as I type.

I have been doing it this way for YEARS and it’s such a game changer.

Are you an agenda girl? Are you more modern and use your iPhone? How to you keep track of your life? Let me knowwww!

xoxo,

K
