  • Wrinkle Free and Feeling forever 23

    Collagen.

I have talked about collagen for YEARS and it’s too important to not write a full blow post about it. To be honest, I started using collagen for superficial reasons. When I learned our bodies stop producing collagen at TWENTY I lost it. But it totally makes sense right?? Those little lines and aches and pains start in your mid-twenties…. HELLO it’s because you are metabolizing collagen as you read this.

Collagen is a must for anyone who has joints, tendons and ligaments… aka EVERYONE. I am not kidding when I say its  a GAME CHANGER. If you didn’t know, I have rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. Im super fortunate to not have to take meds anymore…but aches and pains were a staple in my life until collagen. I can squat my body weight and not have joint pain the next day. That is HUGE. On heavy lifting days I double up on my collagen and recover so much faster. Im far less sore meaning I can bounce back twice as fast.

Whenever I add a new potion to my daily routine, momma rolls her eyes…except for collagen. She noticed a major difference in her skin right away. Funny story, Colleen was drinking her collagen before bed consistently until she had a business trip for work and forgot to take it with her. Ugh. Five days later she came home looking like a sad balloon that fell behind the couch after a 3 year olds birthday party. She just didn’t have that collagen glow anymore. It was all the proof she needed that it was truly making a difference.

I swear the magical powder just fills in those tiny lines making you look and feel forever 24. (THANK GOD) My hair and nails have been growing like CRAZY since discovering my best kept secret. Convinced yet?

If not, get this… a serving has 18g of PROTEIN. Two scoops of collagen and you are hitting those protein macros with ease. Im telling you, out of all the sups I take on the daily, collagen is my ride or die.

Here is the deal, the powder claims to be unflavored..and they totally did their best but it kind of tastes like a vitamin capsule. BUT if you mix it with BCAAs or Magnesium powder it truly is tasteless. Plus your getting the additional benefit of whatever you choose to add. Two birds, one drink. Genus.

Also…this is TOTALLY not a sponsored post. This is 100% raw and real. I live and die for my peptides.

Try them and see for yourself!

  • WHY I HIRED a PERSONAL TRAINER

Several weeks ago I posted my weekly workout routine on Insta and the majority of question I received were all about my trainer.

“If you already know how to lift why are you paying someone?”

“You are a trainer… why do you have one?”

Being in the fitness industry and hiring another fitness professional isn’t a sign of weakness. There is strength in understanding you cant possibly know everything about everything.

While working out is my jam, I am NOT a personal trainer. I have been lifting for as long as I can remember. I am a certified Pilates and cycle instructor. I know what I am doing in the gym but sometimes I just need to zone out and be told what to do. I want my form picked apart. I want feedback on my progress. I want someone to force me to work on my weaknesses. I want an expert to make me better, stronger and faster.

I told my dad I was sick of my own workouts. I was bored of the routine; chest and tris on Monday, back and bis on Tuesday. YAWN I wanted fresh eyes on my form (aside from creepy old dude who hangs out by the squat rack). He mentioned there was a trainer at the barber shop one time who climbed a mountain in the middle of a blizzard or something like that. I knew that was exactly the kind of trainer I wanted…someone slightly batshit crazy to get me out of my comfort zone. I was also dreaming of a trainer who had a private facility because, believe it or not… I hate lifting with an audience.

Then, along came Ryan. Ryan pushes me. He pushes me to lift heavier and makes me work on my weaknesses. Before Ryan, I was squatting maybe 105 and wondering why I was literally never sore. He showed me (by adding far more weight than I usually do) that I am more than capable of squatting 175lbs for 8 reps. He also makes me work on balance…by far my biggest weakness (which means it’s my biggest opportunity for growth).

I have never done conditioning…like ever. I didn’t play team sports growing up. I needed someone to teach me the basics and push me to do it. Someone to watch the timer while I sprint on the versa climber…someone to get me on the versa climber in the first place. As it turns out, I love conditioning. I love suicides… and if you add a weighed sled to it, it’s super painful and burns in the best way. Who knew?

Since working with Ryan, all my workouts have improved. I lift far heavier on my own. I actually work on my weaknesses because I am far more aware of them and how they impact the way my body moves in and out of the gym.

So how do you find a trainer that is right for you??? SHOP AROUND. Ask your friends. Check them out on social media. Call them to chat about their certifications and training style. GOOGLE their certs to make sure they are nationally accredited. Read their testimonials.

Most importantly, make sure your personalities mesh well. Ryan is the perfect trainer for me…he knows he can push me. He knows when I am cursing at him that I don’t mean it. He knows I am highly motivated by stories about his family… especially his twin boys. Ryan works with ALL levels…so if you are in the Lansdale area PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give him a call. I promise you thank me!

  • HIIT THREE: Booty Work

THIS WEEKS HIIT IS A BOOTY KILLER. Set up your timer just like we did Week One. If you need a refresher click HERE. Remember this is 15 minutes of work for fat burning benefits up to 48 hours. Do this three times this week!

Skaters: Start in a small squat. Jump sideways to the left, landing on your left leg. Bring your right leg behind to your left ankle, and don’t let it touch the floor. Reverse direction by jumping to the right with your right leg. This completes one rep.

Burpees with jump knee tuck: Start standing. Place hands on the floor and jump feet back to land in a plank position. Quickly jump feet back in toward your hands. As you stand, explosively jump tucking your knees into your chest.

Duck Walk: In a squatting position walk two steps forward and two steps back. See if you can hold your squat low enough to have your thighs parallel to the floor. Play with the pace of your steps. Challenge yourself to squat deeper and increase your tempo each round.

Cruches: this is your ‘gift’. Lie on your back with feet planted on the floor. Crunch up focusing on your breath. This is your  ACTIVE recovery. You’re welcome.

Pause Sumo Squats: With feet wider than hip distance and toes pointed outward squat deep holding for a slow count to three then power up through the heels squeezing your booty at the top.

Butt kickers: run in place kicking your heels toward your booty. Go as fast as you can…. this is your last exercise before your break. Give it all you have!!

Repeat this THREE times through with a one to two minute rest in-between sets!!

Let me know what you think!!

  • IM MOVING

The rumors are true. IM MOVING.

If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen I am (FINALLY) leaving the nest to live a healthy 4.5 miles away from my childhood home. The apartment of my dreams became available near to the people and places I love the most… Wegmans and their employees. (Im also much closer to Boyfriend which doesn’t suck either).

I will be moving on Easter Sunday, a day which I will be assembling IKEA furniture in honor of Jesus…you know, because he was a carpenter. Honestly, I think he will appreciate it.

As I have been making purchases, I have been receiving endless DMs about where I am getting my dope home decor and I don’t blame you… the gold knives are everything. Because I love you, and have been asking for your input via instagram polls I thought I would give you a list of all my finds//final purchases.

You should know I take home decor very seriously and the fact that I can decorate my own space with minimal input from others is amazing. This may be the only time in my life where I can give a hard and aggressive NO to any Celtics ‘decor’ (Read: posters) and have it not be an actual issue (Sorry babe). The vibe of my place is cozy chic. I hate hate hate houses that don’t feel warm and inviting. My goal is for everyone who comes to visit to end up taking a nap after two glasses of champagne. As to not overwhelm you, I will share each room I decorate separately.

Today, I am giving you all things living room.

I am a sucker for anything with a gold and marble combination so my first purchase was a coffee table that was just that. I wanted something simple that could easily be switched up with the seasons and that will eventually fit into a space with more masculine vibes. The table is square to fit perfectly into my cozy sectional. Also the price was RIGHT and unlike my gold and ‘marble’ DIY book shelf, there will be no extra work involved. (More on the book shelf when we get to the bedroom)

I live for a white couch moment. But I also live for coffee and Im not the most graceful human being so I knew that would be an issue. I also knew the guests that will be frequenting my humble abode are boys and boys spill (Matthew). I fell head over heels for a light blue baby in the IKEA show room. It is the perfect size and right level of cosiness for snuggles watching the Real Housewives and naps during baseball games (im kidding… kind of). I’m picturing pale pink and gray pillows with massive blankets.

As for the accent chair, I wanted something that makes a statement. Something to add a little masculinity so my poor boyfriend doesn’t feel like he is having sleepovers in a sorority house. This chair is everything and it is so comfortable. I don’t love the legs… so I will be painting them.

I spent COUNTLESS hours looking at entertainment centers. Please explain why they were all ugly and boring. I have decided to go the nontraditional route and get a fireless fireplace… aka a mantel. The Tv can hang above it while electric candles flicker where the fire would typically be. Plus I will now have a place for stockings during Christmas which honestly is a huge bonus.

NOTE: This picture is not mine.. I’m using it as inspiration

I am very lucky to be bringing a lot of furniture with me. My amazing desk I found two years ago will also be in the living room. It’s such a statement piece and I love that I finally get to showcase it in the way she deserves.

As for BIG things thats all I have for you. DETAILS will be posted after move in day!! I can’t wait to share this process with you!!!!!

If you have any packing hacks… PLEASE share. Your girl is struggling.

    xoxo,
