  • TPB Five Minute Salad

    Hey Ladies!

So tonight I was on my own for dinner and I remembered one of my FAVORITE salads that is so easy to make and it is SO refreshing. I wanted something light and flavorful that didn’t take long to make or clean up. I hate trying to enjoy my dinner while looking at a pile of pots and pans that are waiting for me.

I opened my fridge to examine my options. As always I started with the veggie drawers. I found a bunch of lettuce that only had a day or two left at peak freshness so I knew that was going to be the winner.

This salad is hot… not in a Paris Hilton ‘That’s Hot’ kind of way. It’s literally a warm salad. I know how weird it sounds but trust me it is the bomb dot com.

I cut the lettuce in bite sized pieces, washed them and threw them in a pan. Remember, it will cook down so use a generous amount. For just myself I used one and a half heads.

Next i drizzled on a little olive oil maybe a tablespoon and a half… to be honest, I’m not really a measurer. I taste as I cook and add the flavors I think are missing so keep that in mind. Please and thank you.

I added a clove of garlic and the juice from about half of a lemon (the rest I put in my water).

Next I turned the stove on medium heat and mixed the lettuce and ‘dressing’ around. Once the lettuce was warm but still crisp, I turned off the oven, filled a bowl withe the salad and sprinkled on a little cheese and pepper. Then I finally watched Bethenny and the other Real Housewives argue in evening wear.

The salad took maybe five minutes to make from start to finish and it was soooooooo good. Seriously, if you are ever in a pinch for time give this one a try!

ALSOOOO, if you didnt know, I am in my LAST semester of nursing school. The first two weeks are intense with 8 hour lectures followed by a HUGE exam… so it is an exorbitant amount of studying. The first tiny test I earned 100% on so I am off to a good start. In addition, my comment section of my blog is on FIRE… I’m talking 40-70ish comments a day (!!!!!) I am incredibly grateful but a little overwhelmed. I PROMISE I will get back to you. I am going to try and dedicate at least an hour a day while prepping for my exam, after the test I can give you the attention you deserve. Also, if the question//comment is specific or personal I will email you instead of making the response public especially if you are sharing your story with me…I think it is better that way. Thank you sooooo much for all the interaction I am LOVING it.

  • Growing out my Brows: A Memoire

    heyyyyyyyy

So im exposing myself in the biggest way… I mean just LOOK at my brows circa 2011. On a blustery day my one-hair-thick brows were literally Gone With the Wind. I CANT.

I realized my over-tweezing ways needed to stop pronto once meeting with an Anastasia Beverly Hills esthetician. She flat out told me to throw out my tweezers because I clearly couldn’t be trusted. She also told me that I was going to need the Brow Enhancing Advanced Serum in order to fix my face. I was skeptical at first but let me tell you, that stuff is MAGIC. If you need to grow out your brows the serum is essential…I picked it up for the grandmother of the kids I babysat. That is how much I believe in it. I used to use it twice a day, once in the morning before my makeup and once before bed. PURE MAGIC.

The process of growing out my brows was a STRUGGLE. I was a chronic over tweezer and the unruliness was tourture. For about six months I got my brows waxed once a month to help shape them as they were growing in.

I have used the ABH Brow Kit and filled in my shape every single day since like…. 2012. There is nothing that compares. If you don’t want to dive in and get the full kit I would start with the Brow Wiz. I buy two at a time when they have my color because it is a TOP seller. I also use the powder (duh) that came with my kit… but if I had to pick just one I would go with the Brow Wiz.

If you don’t want to get the full kit here is what you need:

As for getting my brows shaped, now I only get them done every six-nine months. I usually keep up with them by tweezing the stray hairs every week or two (always in the car… it has the BEST lighting for tweezing). I always get my brows done at the King of Prussia Nordstrom where ABH has a salon.

Warning: compared to a wax at your local nail salon, it is a little pricey…$30 for a wax. BUT now I only go twice a year (if that).

Honestly, I really think brows are the foundation to shaping your face. You can have the sharpest contour but if your brows are jacked it is all for nothing. Trust me and grow out your brows and have an ABH girl reshape them… you will DIE.

Are you in the King of Prussia area? Im about to do the dirty work for you. Call the number below and ask for the brow bar. You’re welcome.

Please if you have any brow horror stories and//or pictures PLEASE send them to me. I showed you mine…it’s only fair!!

  • Update//Cute School Supplies

    well hello pretty people!!

I am sooooo sorry I have been MIA. It has been a crazy week. First, I had to say ‘See you later’ to the kids I have babysat every week for the last three years. Unfortunately, my class schedule and there schedule didnt match up. These are the last four classes I need to graduate and they are only offered at one time each semester. Needless to say, I was crushed. The youngest in the family was thirteen months when I started, she is now four. I loved being part of their family and our ‘goodbye’ was heartbreaking. The mom and I ugly cried (more like sobbed) in the garage after taking the carseats out of my car. I literally cried myself to sleep for a few nights. I made things worse by charging my oldddd iPhone 4 to watch videos of the kids while I cried into a bowl of tacos at 1am.

After the trauma of saying goodbye, I started classes. Nursing school isn’t like any other ‘normal’  major. We had 23 hours of lecture in the FIRST week and that doesn’t include our other classes…plus we then had to go home and study because we have an exam coming up in nine days. When you are a nursing student you have to treat every exam as if it is a final. There is no other way to put it. So I will be a hermit until next Monday.

In order to help survive the intensity, my school supplies have to be cute. I need the right pens, folders, notebooks and tape. I swear it helps soften the blow. I find a lot of the really cool companies by stalking day planner//organization accounts on insta… yes I am that lame. My current favorite is my Goal Digger note pad from Taylor Elliott Designs.

I hate hate hate backpacks so I try to limit the stuff I bring to class so I can just carry my purse. This pink folder (below) from target is soooooo helpful. Instead of carrying a binder to class I only bring exactly what I need for that day. I put my notes in the folder separated by clips. It fits perfectly in my purse along with my laptop, day planner, pencil case and wallet. No backpack needed.

In between studying I will be working on posts for next week so you will be getting content. My goal is to give you three posts a week during the semester. Once normal class hours start (two more weeks) I will have a better idea of how to manage my time so hopefully I will be able to give you more!!

PS if you have a request don’t hesitate to ask!! I got a comment on insta asking about my eyebrows… so take a wild guess as to what the next post is going to be. I hope you guys have a great holiday weekend. I will be at my desk the entire time either studying or writing you love notes.

  • Veggie Sketti

Can you believe it is Thursday already!?! I am so excited (per usual) to share this recipe with you! This is a major staple in my diet because it is quick and easy. I know you have 10 minutes to whip up a delish and healthy meal. Veggie Sketti is amazing. My family loves it and so do The Blondes. I made it for a Girl’s Night I was hosting and it was a hit.

    All you need:

Wegmans precut veggie spaghetti (or you can slice up your own)

    – zucchini, squash, carrots, red pepper, red onion

    Basting oil

    Pink Salt

    Pepper

Put your veggies in a pan on medium heat. Drizzle a little basting oil and add salt and pepper to taste. Stir for ten-ish minutes until all the veggies are cooked. Plate and devour!

Seriously…it is that easy. NO excuses for a poor diet when you can make a meal faster than you can run to the drive through. Try and let me know what you think!!

    xoxo,
