  • CoolSculpting

Okay guys this is it!!!!! My favorite post to date!!! Small disclaimer… This was typed and edited on my iPad…pictures and all. I’m having issues with my hard drive but I NEEDED to get this information to you. Please, if you have any questions try and let me know before  Tuesday as I will be back in the office and can give you answers directly from the professionals. The pictures are up close and personal…we are getting real and raw here on TPB. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

I have been giving you teasers for MONTHS but it finally happened… I got CoolSculpting done!!!!!! I have been seeing advertisements for the procedure everywhere for the last few years. It wasn’t until one of my closest friends from nursing school (Love you AJC) mentioned the office she where works (Daniels Vein and Cosmetic Center) offers CoolSculpting did I reallllllyyyy consider it.

Essentially it is an out patient fat-reduction procedure. A device is place on the problem area of choice (I did my belly) and the extra fat tissue is exposed to cold temperatures. The length of the treatment depends on the area and amount of fat cells…I did two hours on my upper abs and next week I’m doing three hours in my lower belly.

CoolSculpting is for those of us who eat well, exercise and still have pockets of fat. This is the best (and only non-surgical) way to spot reduce fat cells. When you exercise, you can target muscles to build however you can’t pick and choose where you lose FAT…until now. I noticed when I take NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory) I store more fat in my lower belly…and I thought there was nothing I could do to change it…enter CoolScultpting. Unlike diet and exercise which shrink or deflate fat cells, CoolScultping eliminates them. That’s right the fat cells are no longer there. Crazy right?

The biggest question I have been asked: Is it safe? YES YES YES. As most of you (probably all of you) know, I have some pretty significant health issues. My biggest concern was is this safe for MY body. I did my research and talked to my doctors. CoolScultping is FDA-cleared and I feel totally comfortable using it on my body.

Minutes after the treatment was over

Okay okay that all sounds great, but what is the recovery time? I know if you have kids or a demanding schedule (I hear you girl) you don’t have time to be a couch tater…but no need to worry. There is no recovery time. Yep, you read that right ZERO down time. You can get back to your life as soon as the treatment is over. Can I get an AMEN!! After my first two hours came home, walked the dog, played on the floor, and made dinner…seriously. The next day I was in spin class.

Does it hurt? NO. I do have to say, I have a really high pain tolerance…apparently I broke my arm at some point but only found out when I had a routine X-ray done to check my joints, but by that time it had already healed. Whoops. Anyway back to CoolSculpting…I didn’t think it was painful at ALL. The feeling was similar to cupping…a suction sensation. It has been five days since I had it done and my skin in those two area are still numb…which is totally normal. Other than being a little sore and having two hickies on my belly I’m totally fine.

    Yianna massaging the treated area

I will be posting a vlog…It will be up next Tuesday after I get my next hours done. That way you can see the entire process.

So when do you see results? In 8-12 weeks but you can start to see progress in as little as three weeks. The fat cells are naturally excreted through the body over a couple of months. Results come from maintaining an active lifestyle in addition to a healthy diet. EASY right? All you have to do is continue your healthy lifestyle and you will see results.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know what questions you have about the procedure so I can ask them for you IN PERSON at my next appointment. If you have any questions if you qualify or pricing I will have to refer you directly to the highly trained professionals…remember I don’t work there and I’m not examining your body.

Also don’t be shy and book a consult…I know you won’t regret it.

  • SKIN CARE // FAV FACE MASKS

    Hellloooooooo BABES

I know I have been MIA butttt it is only because I want to give you valuable content. Im not going to waste your time with boring, non-informative posts. That being said I have HUGEEEE projects coming up. In February I will be working with Daniels Vein & Cosmetic Center to take you through the process of the coolest new way to FREEZE fat away….Cool Sculpting. I can barely contain my excitement. I am PUMPED. In the next two weeks I will be posting all the research I did and expect a big vlog of the entire process. AHHHH IM SO EXCTIEDDDD.

NOTE: I have NOT been sponsored by any brand in this post. This is my true and honest opinion the BEST products I have found to date.

Getting into today’s post, we are talking about SKIN. I have been much more in to skin care lately than I have been into makeup. I only wear makeup once a month (if that). HOWEVER, I do a face mask almost every other day. I have been testing everything from face rollers to the Acne Mask and it’s time for me to way in.

I’m a huge believer in preventative skin care and working from the inside out. The body stops producing collagen at 20 years old which is why we start to see fine lines in our 20s and 30s. I drink a collagen powder every night to keep my skin plump and youthful. TRUST me when I say it works…my mother the skeptic swears by it. I also believe in drinking at least a gallon of water a day and eating mostly clean unprocessed foods. Don’t forget to drink your nutrients with my Berry Blemish Blaster in addition to sweating (makeup free) for an hour each day.

    Now for the good stuff.

    MASKS

I am a sucker for a good face mask. I really love having a mini spa at home. Some of my favorite masks are a little on the expensive side, others are for babes on a budget. I pick my masks based on how my skin feels at day. If Im oily, I know my skin is dry (the body produces oil to try and hydrate the skin) so I use a moisturizing mask. If I slept in my makeup after my bestie’s 21st birthday celebration (lol) I use a mask for deep cleansing. That makes sense right?

    GLAMGLOW

I found this brand when I was DYING to know what the mask was that every influencer I follow (stalk) was wearing, the mask that pulls black heads and acne to the surface. Enter the SUPERMUD mask. It goes on gray, dries greenish and visibly pulls out black heads. I know, I know the price is scary but I wouldn’t tell you about it if I didn’t think it was worth your hard earned money.

My second fav from GlamGlow is the GRAVITYMUD firming treatment. This mask makes you look like the tin man. It comes with a supercute mini brush for application. Best part…its a peel off mask. I have definitely noticed firmer skin since adding this gem into my routine

My final choice of the squad is the YOUTHMUD. This one I find to be the most exfoliating. This is one I will use a day or two after the SUPERMUD. Why? SUPERMUD brings imperfections to the surface while the YOUTHMUD exfoliates them away.

    SKYN ICELAND

I found Skyn Iceland during my two month hunt for the PERFECT eye mask. As I told you HERE I love love love their product and everything they stand for as a brand. I love that they are comfortable, stay in place and don’t leave a sticky residue. PLUS they actually work. After falling head over heals for the eye masks I also bought their forehead and smile line masks. I seriously love them soooooo much.

    Sheet Masks

I (very) recently learned the power of a sheet mask. They have always sort of freaked me out…but for the TPB readers I’m willing to do (almost) anything. Turns out I actually enjoy a good sheet mask. I have been using Sephora brand and they are great! They are easy to use and perfect for babes on a budget!!

    ICE ROLLING

I found ice rolling when every blogger on the planet did a post about it. I needed a stocking stuffer for Christmas so it was an obvious choice. Why use an ice roller? Think about when you ice an injury… It decreases inflammation by cooling the most superficial layers of the skin which constricts blood vessels to decrease redness. It is PERFECT after some late night shenanigans or too much Chinese food or chips and salsa… you get the picture. Plus it feels oh so good.

LAST but certainly not last the Acne Masks from Neutrogena.

The second I saw the commercial for the Acne Mask I knew I had to test it out for you. I mean seriously, a mask that decreases inflammation and treats acne causing bacteria?!?! The first time I tried it I fell in love. Even if I didn’t see improvement in my skin, the mask has the same feel-good effects as going into a tanning bed. I loveeee to start my day with a little meditation and a ten minutes mask session. The mask comes with 30 sessions. They you recycle the charger-like-thing at your local Best Buy and get a new one! I have noticed a major decrease in the redness in my cheeks. PLUS since I have started using it, I have gotten the best feedback on my skin.

I hope you found a product or two to add to you wish list!!! If you have any face mask you are obsessed with LET ME KNOW! I’m always looking for the latest and greatest in skin care!!

  • Anti-Aging Sleepy Drink (!!!)

Last night I posted a little low-quality sneak peak to this post… My Anti-Aging Sleepy Drink. Essentially, I mix two of my favorite powder supplements together to get the benefits of both. I LOVE drinking them at night because sleep is when our body heals itself. Who doesn’t want to wake up refreshed and looking younger????

It’s totally a magic potion… perfect for Halloween right?

    Let’s talk collagen.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and its job is to essentially hold everything together. As we age we stop producing collagen (at age 20) and as it slowly breaks down in our body we start to see wrinkles.

Listen, I am all about aging gracefully but if there is anything I can do to slow the process I am ALL about it. I had a consult a few weeks ago at Daniels Vein & Cosmetic Center…more on the actual consult coming in a few months (!!!). I was speaking to the insanely knowledgeable esthetician about all things skin. I told her how I’m trying every mask and cream with collagen I can get my hands on.

She pretty much told me that while masks and creams are okay, the real-deal results come from ingesting collagen in your diet. You know I started googling foods with collagen which led to finding collagen pills and powders.

I found a brand I had seen on a few other blogs that had exactly what I was looking for…grass fed, kosher, gluten free, non GMO, preservative free collagen peptides…plus Vital Proteins is sold on Amazon Prime, which to be totally honest is also a factor when shopping online…I live for two day shipping.

I order the ‘small’ container which is still massive. I put a scoop in my water stirred it up and took my first sip. Im not in the business of sugar coating so let’s get real… it claims to be unflavored but it has a taste. It’s not strong… kind of the flavor of a vitamin capsule if that makes any sense. Definitely not a bad taste, but it’s not completely flavorless. That is when I got the idea to add the Natural Calm which has a raspberry lemonade flavor.

Natural Calm is a Magnesium supplement… for those of you who are in the medical field, “Magnesium is required for the proper growth and maintenance of bones. Magnesium is also required for the proper function of nerves, muscles, and many other parts of the body. In the stomach, magnesium helps neutralize stomach acid and moves stools through the intestine.” **

Magnesium is really important. It also helps relax you so it is very beneficial for those with anxiety. I use it to help calm my brain at night. Usually my brain is going a mile a minute and i have a hard time relaxing…especially when during the semester. I will literally be thinking about RAAS (renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system) at 2am instead of catching some zzzz which cause me to take mini naps when I should be studying.

Fun Fact: when I lived at school I would be so deprived of quality sleep I would try and study in my bed for a little and would pass out 2 minutes into listening to a lecture.

I knew I needed to add something into my nightly routine to help the issue. Enter Magnesium. I only use a little, 1 tsp, in 16oz of cold water 30 minutes to an hour before bed. Add in a scoop of the collagen and you have yourself an Anti-aging Sleepy Drink fit for a Queen.

  • How to WHITEN Your Teeth In $10 (or less)

    Happy Friday Babes!!

White teeth are VERY important to me. In high school I had very expensive professional teeth whitening for my birthday. The result was beautiful on the surface but it RUINED my teeth. Now they are insanely sensitive…you know how it can hurt to eat ice cream? I still, eight years later, get random bursts of what I call ‘Ice-cream Pain’ at the strangest times. Another strange side effect, I can’t go from eating cold foods to warm foods with out pain…a decadent chocolate cake with a side of ice cream…. it causes my physical pain to eat the perfect combination.

    NOT WORTH IT.

I have been seeing at least four Insta pictures a day promoting whitening products. Mainly kits with a blue light or charcoal for $30. Ditch the professional in office ‘permanent’ whiten systems because I have been there done that and completely ruined my tooth enamel. Please for the love of God DO NOT spend more than $10 MAX.

Charcoal is the BEST, safest, easiest and cheapest way to ensure your smile shines bright like a diamond. You do not need to buy a kit from an insta-model either… capsules from amazon or your local pharmacy will do the job. I use this brand but this one will work too.

So you have the capsules what’s next? Wet your toothbrush and open the cap to pour the charcoal right on your brush ( I highly recommend using a soft bristle toothbrush since you will be brushing your teeth twice)

Brush Brush Brush those soon-to-be pearly whites. After your teeth are covered and look like a poorly executed Halloween costume, brush with your favorite toothpaste. It will take a few minutes longer than your normal routine but the results are INSTANT. I try and use the charcoal once a day…always at night (incase I miss a spot).

WARNING: This is a messy process. It is easily wiped up with a wash cloth or paper towel…It takes maybe 4 seconds to clean up.

You cannot go wrong with is secret whitening method. Trust me.

    K
