    Night Time Skincare Routine

I have walked you through the in’s and out’s of my morning skincare routine but it’s time to swan dive into the evening.

I firmly believe in a good bedtime routine and even more so believe in firm skin. Listen, I am 26, and as my mother lovingly reminds me, I’m closer to 30 than I am to 20.

My goal is the be the hottest version of myself at every age. I fully intend on being the mom pulling up to pre-school in a white Jeep in head to toe Lululemon with just mascara, a wrinkle-free forehead (botox is on the horizon and I’m not shy about it) and the best gluten-free cookies for snack.

So essentially my life now with a toddler or two on my hip.

ANYWAY… to earn hot mom status, I stick to this nighttime routine…

(ps THIS IS NOT AN AD. I am not getting paid. I do have a discount code for you at the end in case you are interested. This isn’t a sales pitch just me sharing the products I love with the girls I love aka you

First I remove my make up with Agran Oil from Fré. It breaks down my setting spray and gets every single bit of mascara + foundation off my face with basically zero effort. Plus I swear from using it to take off my mascara my lashes are looking thiccc and healthy. A little goes a long way so just three or four drops and my face is off!

Let’s chat about argan for a hot second. Okay if you aren’t on the argan train hop aboard sis. Let me just tell you about the magic that is argan oil (unless you have a tree nut allergy because argan will be less of a magical experience for you and more of a swollen situation… so sorry girl)

Back to business, argan oil protects you from the dang sun, therefore, it prevents sun damage + hyperpigmentation. Don’t believe me, check out this 2013 study. It’s able to do so because of its antioxidant activity… Vitamin E specifically is a fat-soluble antioxidant that allows water retention in the skin adding moisture and a glow to your complexion. If that wasn’t amazing enough, argan helps with acne by regulating sebum secretions… aka the oil that comes out of the sebaceous glands mostly found at hair follicles.

Are you impressed yet?!?! Frés entire line contains argan FYI and for every kit sold they plant an argan tree. We love that.

Then I wash with Fré’s cleanser, Purify Me.

After I pat my face dry… I never rub my face… or my skin at all if we are being honest. I always pat or fan dry (aka standing in front of a fan) as to not rub off my self-tanner.

Next, I move to my eye creams. I start with Brighten Me by Fré and then layer RoC retinol correxion eye cream.

Then I apply RoC retinol correxion Deep Wrinkle Night Cream. I love the RoC products because they contain the most retinol short of getting a prescription from the dermatologist. We love retinol because according to Harvard …

“Topical vitamin A-based drugs called retinoids—the most used and most studied anti-aging compounds— may reduce fine lines and wrinkles. … Retinoids reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen. They also stimulate the production of new blood vessels in the skin, which improves skin color.”

I mean you can’t argue with Harvard… Elle Woods went there.

Plus without needing a prescription, you can Amazon Prime your wrinkle cream or buy it in bulk at Costco. We love bulk wrinkle prevention.

Finally, I finish off with Recover Me and I am Love from Fré.

I love how moisturized and glowy my skin looks and feels after this two-minute routine. I know while I’m snoozing my skin is getting all the TLC it deserves after all the stress + sweat I put it through all day.

Then I swan dive into bed with a Dream Water and a smile.

PS If you want to save on anything + every Fré code ‘KD’ at checkout saves you 25%

Make good choices, look both ways!!

    Love you the most,

    Katie

  • Gluten Free Meatballs

    Gluten Free Meatballs

This is the moment you have all been waiting for… my balls.

If you’ve been here for more than 30 seconds you know I live and breathe for a good ball. When it comes to balls, I’m not even that picky. A bad ball is better than no ball. Balls.

These gluten-free meatballs are a delight. They are my go-to for weekly food prep. When you prep things you think you ‘should’ eat, you order uber eats. When you make something you love it’s not going to rot in the fridge for two weeks. You will actually eat It.

    Novel concept.

CONFESSION: I don’t really measure anything when I cook. I have this character flaw where I eyeball things… I inherited it from my mom who learned It from my grandmother. I wish I wasn’t like this, but I am so here we are.

    Here’s what you will need

    • **3lbs of organic ground chicken
    • **3 eggs
    • Gluten-Free bread crumbs
    • One medium onion
    • Parsley
    • Basil
    • Oregano
    • Garlic
    • Pink Salt
    • Pepper

**you need an egg for every pound of chicken you use. One pound = one egg

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

I sauté the onion in oil on the stove browning them just a little. While they cooled I put the chicken, eggs, 4 cloves of minced garlic in a large bowl with basil, oregano, parsley, salt, and pepper. Don’t be afraid to be generous with your seasonings…That’s the magic.

(ps onion goggles are a game-changer. I got mine here )

Now let’s talk about the star of the show… the main chick… the only thing that matters…gluten-free bread crumbs.

THESE ARE GLUTEN FREE GIRLS DREAM. The possibilities are truly endless.

I used about a cup and a half… closer to two cups of the bread crumbs into the meat mixture…

“Hey Alexa, remind me to never use the phrase meat mixture again”

ANYWAY…. start slow and add as needed. Remember this amount was for THREE pounds. It’s easy to add more and impossible to take back. Which is kind of like a metaphor for unkind words…I digress.

I mixed everything together with my hands until I had the perfect consistency for rolling the meat into balls. I like my balls big… pun very much intended. You guys, I mean I am trying so hard to keep the meat and ball jokes to a minimum but there is only so much a girl can do.

After getting a ball to fill my palm (probably about an inch or an inch and a half) I rolled those babies in the gluten-free bread crumbs one more time for a little crunchy coating.

I popped those bad boys in the oven for about 45 minutes. I checked then at 25, 30 and 40 minutes to see if the bottom edge was browning. When they looked cooked, I took them out and cut into the biggest one to ensure it was cook through.

Then I plated that sucker with my favorite organic vodka sauce from Trader Joe’s and had myself a ball.

  • Spaghetti Squash

    Spaghetti Squash

Spaghetti Squash is probably the most life-changing vegetable (well technically a fruit BUT in the culinary world it’s considered a veggie… I digress) on the planet. Think about It…… a VEGETABLE that looks, feels and tastes like pasta. Where do I sign up?!?! For someone who is gluten-free, this is a DREAM…while gluten-free brands have come along way, nothing is as tasty as the real deal.

This is the PERFECT solution because one I won’t break out in a rash and TWO there are so many nutritional benefits. Well hello there Vitamin A, E, and EB6. Were you in need of Niacin Minerals because the squash has you covered? Need to regulate blood sugar well this pectin containing pasta-like dream veggie has It. Honestly, if you haven’t loaded your instacart with this beauty yet I don’t know what you are waiting for.

Anyway, THIS particular spaghetti squash was a gift from my friend Niki’s garden…which makes It BETTER than store-bought. When she brought it into the studio I could have cried tears of joy…It’s the little things you know?

Back to business… I washed this beauty with Veggie Spray (also made by Niki) made with an essential oil blend of thieves, clove, lemon, cinnamon, rosemary + eucalyptus. It’s the healthiest way to remove waxes, dirt, insecticides, fungicides and plant growth regulators. If you want more information you can reach Niki here!

Then I cut her in half and removed the pulp with a spoon…just like a pumpkin.

I then gave her a nice bath in Wegmans Basting Oil, pink salt + pepper and popped her in the over at 400 for 45 minutes.

Next, I pulled out a pound of ground chicken (turkey or beef would work too… whatever blows your skirt up) and threw it on the stove with Wegmans Basting Oil, pink salt + pepper (I’m consistent over here) and let It cook.

When the squash was finished and slightly cooled, I used a fork scrape the squash into angel hair-like strands. I filled a bowl to the brim, added in the chicken and a little leftover pasta sauce from the fridge and there was my lunch!!

While It was cooking, I wrote this post, listened to an audiobook (The Coaching Habit by Michael Bungay Stanier) and did a load of laundry… multitasking is a must.

I hope you enjoy this one…It’s a favorite of mine!!

Make good choices, look both ways! Love you the MOST.

    xoxo,

    Katie

  • Morning Skincare Routine

    Morning Skincare Routine

Oh, you girl know I’m a morning person…a BIG morning person. I love being the only one awake. It’s so peaceful. My morning routine is very specific. If my schedule is off, my day is off. I need it to start just right.

Every detail is planned, including my skincare. My skin is VERY important to me. I take excellent care of her.

Full disclosure: I have never had “bad skin” I have been blessed with clear skin. I only get karma zits. In case you don’t know what a ‘karma zit’ is, let me fill you in. Every time I have spoken unkindly about someone I get a zit. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

    Karma Zit.

As long as I’m kind my skin is clear. Now, I do get redness but that comes from my gluten + dairy issues. Long story short, my skin is amazing if my soul + dietary choices are in alignment.

Now, back to business, one of my three biggest fears is wrinkles… so you can bet your bottom dollar I’m all about prevention.

In the morning, after wetting//drying my face (I don’t wash my face in the morning…I get too dry + I love the products I use at night and I wouldn’t be mad if they lasted throughout the day)

I start with my Elemis Pro-Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment. It works against fine lines + wrinkles… Hello, I would like to RSVP heck yes to the anti-wrinkle party. It’s full of amino acid aka the building blocks of protein… you know how I feel about protein. Blue Flower Linseed is also full of protein + omega 9 fatty acid. It also contains Padina Pavonica, which is a Mediterranean algea proven to have anti-aging benefits. Yes, yes and YES PLEASE.

Next, I dive into Skinceuticals C E Ferulic. I found this through a client who has the most beautiful skin…like so beautiful is distracting. When she told me about SkinCeuticals, I drove 20 minutes out of my way to get it on my way home. Let me tell you, this pricey potion is a GAME CHANGER.

Full Disclosure: It smells like a hotdog. Super unfortunate for like three seconds but for the GLOW it’s worth the stink + price. TRUST ME. I would not steer you wrong.

When I have posted this on my Instagram story I get people coming out of the woodwork telling me how much It has changed their skin. WE LOVE IT.

Here are the details directly from the horse’s mouth

“C E Ferulic features a synergistic antioxidant combination of 15% pure vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), 1% vitamin E (alpha tocopherol), and 0.5% ferulic acid to enhance protection against environmental damage caused by free radicals that can contribute to atmospheric aging. This vitamin C serum helps neutralize free radicals induced by UVA/UVB, infrared radiation (IRA), and ozone pollution (O3), which may lead to visible signs of accelerated skin aging. In addition to antioxidant protective benefits, C E Ferulic improves signs of aging and photodamage, the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and the loss of firmness, while brightening skin’s complexion.”

Lastly, I finish my face with my Fré Skin Care. I have been working with their products for over a year and I love love love their entire system. During the day I use the Revive Me Serum + Protect Me Moisturizer with SPF 30. Fré is specifically designed for skin that sweats…aka athletes. If you are looking for skincare you can wear to the gym and not worry about clogging your pretty pores, Fré has your back.

I use the entire system…the 123 Fré is amazing. It’s the perfect complete set for anyone who enjoys the sweatiest things in life. Plus with every set sold, Fré plants an argan tree. WE LOVE THAT. All the products are FDA + European Union approved as well as being vegan + cruelty-free. YES YES YES.

I use the products throughout the day and I love them so so so much. If you are interested in trying them I recommend getting the travel kit and seeing how it works with your skin. You can use CODE ‘KD’ at check out for savings.

THAT’S IT, BABES. Four steps and I’m out the door!!

Make good choices, Look both ways! Love you the MOST.

    xoxo,
